Imagine a cold, snowy day in a village in the mountains of south Serbia. Imagine a child in sandals and socks, sweatpants, and a long-sleeved t-shirt. Can you feel the bone-chilling cold?
Now imagine that child with a warm, wool hat pulled snugly over their head, warming their ears, and reminding them that they have friends in the USA who take seriously Christ’s admonition that what we do for the least of these, we do for Him. We love these kids, and we love the time we spend together, knitting for them and sharing more about them — their names, their lives, what their villages look like, what kind of food they eat, and how they love to sing songs about their love for Christ and recite Bible verses they memorize during the Bible classes that are taught to them by Linking Partners’ ministry partners.
If your group would like to join us in knitting or crocheting warm wool hats for the Roma children of Serbia, contact me at loswalt@linkingpartners.org . We have a goal of 1,000 hats this year, and we’re well on our way! Be a part of this rewarding ministry! You can also donate toward quality superwash wool for knitting. Just go to our donate page and leave a comment that your donation is for the hat ministry.
