A “mini-team” is heading to Serbia November 1-10, 2013. Among other things, we want to take warm hats for the Roma children. Winters are harsh in Serbia, with below-freezing temperatures, and many feet of snow falling. Many go without coats, hats, even shoes.
We can help with the hats. I have started knitting, and welcome anyone who will join me. Hats are small enough to pack in large numbers. I need *superwash wool* (washable wool) with which to knit the hats. Please understand when I ask that you not donate just any yarn. Cheap yarns, cotton and acrylic yarns, are not warm enough. 100% wool that is not washable will felt, and become unusable, on first washing. Contact me for details.
I can knit at least one hat every evening, so I would like to go to Serbia with at least 60 hats. If we could gather 100 warm hats, that would probably cover every little head in the villages where we are now working.
