Hey guys! It’s been a really good week here in Serbia. We arrived on Saturday after a full day of travel, and were welcomed by Rodja and Natasa and their girls. We spent the rest of the weekend with their family, recovering from our travels and speaking of the things that we would be doing the next few days. We also traveled to Belgrade on Sunday to fellowship and have church with a fellow pastor. On Monday, we traveled to Kucura, a village in northern Serbia. We stayed there until Wednesday, where we were involved in a children’s camp with Sasa, a Roma pastor, and taught English to some of the Roma children there in the village. The first day, over 80 children came! They were split into different “camps” and we were in charge of teaching the older children English. The other “camps” included a Bible study group and a Red Cross demonstration. Sasa is involved in a lot of humanitarian action, as well as leading multiple home churches. We were so blessed to get to meet with him and hear of the work he is involved in to advance the Gospel and to be able to share in some of the things that God is doing in that area.
On Tuesday we continued with classes, and planned to finish on Wednesday. There were a few bumps in the road though, and we ended up getting rained out the last day.
We were, however, able to meet with the director of the hospital in Vrbas, a town next to Kucura. Slavica, the director was very welcoming and sang Sasa’s praises. She informed us of some urgent needs in the hospital and we hope to fulfill some of the requests that she made.
On Thursday we spent time with Natasa, Teodora, and Jovana, resting and enjoying each other’s company. They are such a blessing to be around and we are so thankful for their generosity, hospitality, and friendship.
Today we traveled by bus from Novi Sad to Prokuplje, where Marijan, Slavica, and their boys welcomed us. We had a wonderful end of the day fellowshipping with them and praying over the things that we will do here.
Thank you to everyone supporting and praying for us!
Prayer requests:
For the church in Belgrade, that their church would be strengthened and the pastor would have the wisdom to know how to overcome the troubles that are arising in their congregation.
For Sasa and his family. He is very busy, so pray that he would have the strength to continue and the wisdom to know which opportunities will be the most fruitful.
That we would be able to fulfill the urgent needs in the hospital in a region of 240,000 people.
For Marijan and his family. He needs extra prayer for his health, so pray for strength and healing especially.
