Hello friends! We travelled to Arandjelovac from Prokuplje on Wednesday by bus. We were greeted at the bus station by Dragan and some of the youth girls that he and Danijela (his wife) work with. They were very friendly and it was so nice to have people to greet us after the long bus ride. The girls came over to Dragan’s apartment later that night to visit for a while and to help plan for the children’s club the following day. On Thursday, we attended the children’s club. Since a lot of people are on holiday or out working, there were less children there, but it was still a good turn out. We sang, played a couple games, learned a Bible verse (in Serbian and in English!) and then I told the story of Hannah and her prayer to God for Him to give her a son. Later that night, we met with the girls again.
This time, we discussed what it means to be a christian and they asked us questions about life (and our love lives lol) and how they can stay strong in the faith even through all of the pressures that their peers put on them to conform to the world. It was a good time of fellowship and sharing in life with these sisters in Christ. Today, we continued the children’s club with the story of God’s faithfulness in his delivery of Samuel to Hannah and her faithfulness to God when she gave him back to God. We then traveled to Mladenovac, where we visited with two families and held a children’s club.
There are a few things I would like for you to pray for, specifically.
First, pray for Dragan and Danijela; they work tirelessly between Belgrade, Arandjelovac, and several other surrounding areas. Pray that God would provide rest and strength for them, as well as to give them influence in the communities that they are working in to continue proclaiming the true gospel.
Second, please pray for the youth girls that help Dragan and Danijela; they are under tremendous pressure to conform to the world. The community and families of these girls don’t encourage them toward Godliness. Danijela is like a mom to a lot of the girls, but she can only do so much since she can’t always be with them to guide them to make good decisions. Pray that the girls would strive for Godliness and that they would not be discouraged when they are persecuted.
Lastly, please pray for the children that they are ministering to. This is such a wonderful opportunity to be able to share a small part of what God is doing through these children’s clubs that Dragan and Danijela run. It amazing to see how the children respond to this wonderful couple; it’s so evident that God has put this ministry on their hearts and He has blessed them with a special talent for working with the children.
Thank you so much for your support,
Caitlin
