Linking Partners Ministries is excited to join in the congratulations as the Southern Baptist Convention announces that David Platt has been elected by the trustees as the President of the International Mission Board. The focus and practices of Linking Partners have been greatly influenced by the work of David Platt, and ministries he is associated with, such as Radical.net, Multiply Movement, and The Church at Brook Hills. A half-day meeting with missions staff from The Church at Brook Hills in January of 2012 helped Linking Partners to set our direction, and a suggested reading and listening list of books, podcasts, and sermons gave us practical pointers for solidifying our work toward our goal of helping to establish an evangelical home church within walking distance of every Roma (gypsy) person in Serbia.
In announcing the appointment, search committee chairman David Uth said “We weren’t looking for a man who knew how to talk about it; we were looking for a man who was doing it – and using the influence he had to affect the nations. When we considered what Brook Hills was doing to send couples [to the mission field] and to engage people in the pew in kingdom work, we felt like those were clues to how effective he was at mobilizing and getting people to follow the vision that God had given him.”
Linking Partners has translated materials provided by Radical. net — sermon series Follow Me and Different to Make a Difference, as well as the book Multiply by Francis Chan with forward by David Platt, into Serbian. These have been distributed among Roma leaders in the Christian community in Serbia, and made available to Radical.net for further sharing.
Linking Partners looks forward to an exciting surge in disciples making disciples around the world, among unreached people groups, and among the Roma in Serbia. May God bless the IMB, and David Platt and his family as they transition into the days ahead.
